1st Kinetic Dashboard

I’ve converted my first classic dashboard to kinetic. I’ve got the tracker, refresh, grid all done. Now I want to push it to the menu. Totally not seeing it to be able to push it to the menu.

In the classic way you had to deploy it. Does publishing do the same in Kinetic? I’ve tried doing copy to current company. Is there something I’m missing?

Yes, but you still need to tie it to a menu item. You should be able to add it to the original menu item that you used for classic. Just use the kinetic UI version of menu maintenance.

I’m trying to do it in the menu item, but i’m missing something.

I’ve created a layer so I could leave the base alone, but in the menu I don’t see the layer to choose it.

Which page customizations there is a way to choose your layer, but i’m not seeing it for the dashboards.

Hi Tammy,

In application studio, make sure you have clicked on the overflow menu > Publish:

FYI: this commit button does nothing for us. Yet to find out what it does:

Once you have published the dashboard, go to menu maintenance and make sure you choose the Program Type as “Kinetic App”:

If you have layers, you can select them by clicking on the search icon here:

This performs a similar function one sees in source control like Git. It saves a version that one can restore to if needed, like a checkpoint in a game.

I set it up in the menu.

When I try to access it through the menu I get this error.

Just guessing, but did you also publish the Base layer of the dashboard?

yes. Do I need to remove that?

No, for the kinetic dashboards I’ve built, I published the Base layer, then published a child layer, and put the child layer in the Menu. I ran into errors when trying to put the Base layer in the Menu. I had to create a blank child layer to get rid of the loading error.

Does the error still persist after a refresh?

  • Client: Restart the client completely. Close it down and relaunch.
  • Browers: Ctrl + F5 to do a hard refresh of the browser tab.
