2D barcodes Blank Title 91510

Something sounds familiar here.

I have a feeling when we moved from 8 to 9 we had an issue where the barcodes on
MES didn't quite work.

The below info 'might' help ...

=== === ===
Â
Try setting the AutoEdit property to false (if not available in
designer propeties, it will have to be done in code)

here is a description of the property:

public bool AutoEdit { set; get; }
Member of Infragistics. Win.UltraWinGrid .UltraCombo

Summary:
Determines if the combo will support automatic value completion.
(Default is true).

Remarks:
Setting the AutoEdit property to True will enable automatic edit
value completion for the text area of the combo, based on the values
in the value list. When AutoEdit is True and the user types a
character in the combo's text box, the control will search the
contents of the
Infragistics. Win.UltraWinGrid .UltraDropDownBa se.DisplayMember column
to see if it contains a value that begins with the same character. If
it does, this value will appear in the text box, with all of its
characters highlighted except the one that the user typed. If the
user types a second character, the control will check to see if it is
the next highlighted character is in the value that appeared. If it
is, the value stays and the character typed becomes deselected. If
the second character does not appear in the value, the control
searches the list again for a value that begins with the first two
characters that were typed. If one exists, it appears in the text
box; otherwise the selected text is removed and no more searching
takes place. This process continues until the user shifts the input
focus away from the control. If the UltraCombo's
Infragistics. Win.UltraWinGrid .UltraCombo. DropDownStyle has been set
to DropDownList, then setting the AutoEdit to true will enable multi-
character auto-edit functionality for the drop down list style. In
multi-character auto-edit mode, the control will select the item
whose text starts with characters typed so far. After 500
milliseconds of time span since last keystroke, a new auto-edit
session begins where the previously typed characters are discarded
and new characters are used for multi-character matching.

PMJI....

We have been using IDAutomation128 generated barcodes for travelers and starting
production activity with MES.
JobNum + tab + Assenmbly + tab + Operation + tab + tab + tab + carriage return

This has worked great on 8.03.305.
We recently upgraded to 8.03.409 and now, the Assembly field populates from the
bar code, and that's it.
When I scan the barcode into notepad, the tabs are still there.

So something is different on the MES entry screen but I haven't been able to
find it.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Is anyone using 2D barcodes such as PDF 417 within crystal? If so who's
product do you use and what version of crystal are you using. The same
question goes for Code 128. I have a requirement to embed both types of
barcodes into a single shipping label. I know code 3 of 9 would be easy,
too bad our customer doesn't think so.

Thanks for the advice.

Yeah, BarTender is the bolt-on app from IdAutomation as Michael says.
Your Epicor rep can get it for you.

There are also plugins for Crystal Reports for 128. Check out

I was curious for someone to explain me bartender if possible.

I'm looking to implement barcodes in the job traveler so the user can scan the jobnum and assy and mtl at once.
Since code 39 makes the barcode too long I was looking for datamatrix to do the job.

Also I want to print part labels with barcode but our partnum can be 30 characters long so a 2D barcode is preferable.
I was looking at IDautomation native barcode for crystal and it looks interesting but then I heard that Bartender is the way to go but I have no idea why and what this is.
Any help is appreciated.

We use "ID Automation" for our PDF417 - It is so easy to use.

They provide you with a 'sample' Crystal .rpt with a sample barcode in which you simply copy to your document and change what you want the barcode to read by either adding fields or formulas.

I really don't know what Bartender could offer that the ID Automation native font for Crystal doesn't.

I dont know for sure, but the ID Automation one I use only has PDF417 but we use it to join (with tabs and carriage returns) severl fields together at once.

We also use Bartender for a different application, but I don't think it is as easy and cost effective as the ID Automation solution.

The beauty about the ID Automation one is anyone on the network can run Crystal reports with the generated PDF417 barcode on them without having to pay for expensive licences or without having to install a font on every PC.
