4.0 Plant Performance -- Vendor Performance

We had Chris Robisch create a Subcontractor (Vendor) Performance Report for
us that our ISO auditor liked. It tracks all vendors and rates them by
group and overall for a whole year. It also has graphs in it. Chris did a
very good job and is reasonalble. You can contact him at crobisch1@...

We have been looking at it the last couple days as well - I have a question.
In 3.0 we used to be able to view vendor performance by vendor. It would
appear that in 4.0 it is not possible without EBI. Have you done this?? We
are ISO certified and it is a requirement to track vendor performance and it
looks like we are back to manual unless we buy EBI. Any help would be
GREATLY appreciated!!

Can anyone help me out with setting up the Plant Performance function on the
ShopVision menu? 4.0's looks quite a bit different than 3.0's and I'm not
sure where to go with it. I know it has some interface to EBI or am I
wrong?

I'm interested in that too! We don't have EBI so if it has to interface
with that, then I guess we're out! But, Shopvision is a function I would
like to learn more about too because I would love to utilize it!

It works without EBI. You just set up a dataset and refresh
it. It creates a default dataset for you that you can edit
if you want. Once the dataset is refreshed you can view it.
That will give you the graphs.

Your use of Yahoo! Groups is subject to http://docs.yahoo.com/info/terms/
You can do it. You have to edit the default dataset though.
Edit the export to get at the query. You have to know
what you are doing with the sql syntax. There is no
slick way to do it. Here is the mess that it creates and
you can see that we added AND vendor.vendorid='G1500'
to get a specific vendor.

for each PoRel no-lock where PoRel.Company = CUR-COMP and PoRel.DueDate
>= BeginDate() and PoRel.DueDate <= EndDate(), first PoDetail no-lock where PoDetail.Company = CUR-COMP and PoDetail.PONum = PoRel.PONum and PoDetail.POLine = PoRel.POLine, first Part outer-join no-lock where Part.Company = CUR-COMP and Part.PartNum = PoDetail.PartNum, first POHeader no-lock where POHeader.Company = CUR-COMP and POHeader.PONum = PoRel.PONum, first Vendor no-lock where Vendor.Company = CUR-COMP and Vendor.VendorNum = POHeader.VendorNum AND vendor.vendorid='G1500', first VendorPP no-lock where VendorPP.Company = CUR-COMP and VendorPP.VendorNum = POHeader.VendorNum and VendorPP.PurPoint = POHeader.PurPoint, each RcvDtl outer-join no-lock where RcvDtl.Company = CUR-COMP and RcvDtl.VendorNum = POHeader.VendorNum and RcvDtl.PONum = PoRel.PONum and RcvDtl.POLine = PoRel.POLine and RcvDtl.PORelNum = PoRel.PORelNum, first RcvHead outer-join no-lock where RcvHead.Company = CUR-COMP and RcvHead.VendorNum = RcvDtl.VendorNum and RcvHead.PurPoint = RcvDtl.PurPoint and RcvHead.PackSlip = RcvDtl.PackSlip:

I had a look at the Vendor Performace graphs in ShopVision last week.

I'd have to have a big look into it to understand what it's trying to tell
me, the interface is complicated, the graphs presented are complicated.

To me it would cost too much in time spent to get myself and my users up to
speed and I don't think would really give them the information that they
really need - i.e., are our vendors performing?

Thus my approach will be to create a few Crystal Reports that clearly show
this information. These can then be used by our Purchasing Manager and
Production Management team to make decisions, and can be thrown in front of
a Sales Rep as a negotiating tool.

I can't see that happening with the built-in ShopVision Analysis.

I'd be interested to hear others' approaches to Vendor Performance Tracking.

Hi Anton,
I tried to address this some time ago, and since I'm Purchasing and not IT
couldn't see the logic in what they were trying to do. I'm glad to see
your thoughts on the subject.

I'd like to know if this "enhancement" (Epicore's word, not mine) was
requested
by the users, or imposed on us by THEM. Any enhancement that makes it that
hard to get simple information, should be discussed with the users first.
It _was_ functional,
and easy to produce by those who had access to it, now we _can't_ use it
unless
we get the system manager involved to figure it out. (how much whine should
I serve here?)

Are people actually using this in 4.0 successfully/effectively?

So, not to be lazy, but would you upload your Crystal report when you
get it ready?

Okay, I'm done. Thanks-a-bunch.

Rhonda,

thanks for your input.

I'd be happy to up-load the report when finished, if it only uses standard
Vantage fields. We have a VB Form on the PO Rel table where Purchasers can
log a revised Due Date and a Revision Number, therefore we can also track
the b***sh** factor coming from the Vendors.

My reports will probably use a mixture of PO fields, Delivery Note fields
and the aforementioned PO VB Form fields, but I will see what I can do in
terms of uploading reports.

eManufacturing users will probably be able to amend the report to use the
built-in revised due date, which I believe exists in that version of the
software, although I don't think there is a revision number field.
