4GL question Blank Title 104964

How frequently does this process run? I use a bpm async process server to defer updates like that to times when there is less activity in the system.

The code is running in a BPM. Would using UpdateTableBuffer to update the records and still allow users to use Vantage?

I wouldn't mind so much if the server showed all 4 cpu cores pegged to the max, but this BPM barely taxes a single core....

I have a query that returns 4 - 5 thousand records.
I use a for each statement to iterate through them and use an assign statement to set a value.

This seems to impact overall Vantage performance while it runs to the point of making vantage unuseable.

Is there a way to update the records without impacting Vantage performance so much?
So you want your server to do a lot of work without affecting the rest of
the stuff running on said server??? ERM...

The only thing you can do is throw hardware at it... Do it in small batches?

Are you releasing the record after the update? I do this all the time with negligible impact.

Can you post your query? Perhaps we can tweak it a bit for you and get it
running a little better.

After trying my query in a BAQ I find I am returning waaaaaaaay too many records to update. I have rewritten the query and will see what happens the next time it is run

Thanks.
