Are you using a multi-processor server? I noticed the same thing on
our old 500 Mhz single processor server. Everything was well within
range (10% to 15%) until someone ran a Crystal report that used
ODBC. When they ran the report the performance monitor would shoot
up to 100% and stay there until the report started to print then it
would return to normal. I set up a new server with dual 600Mhz
processors and now the performance monitor shows about 55% to 60% for
each processor when the ODBC reports are running.

I was just watching the performance monitor on the Vantage server
while I was running an ODBC report (which took a couple minutes to
run) and it shot to 100% and stayed there until the ODBC application
was closed. Does anybody know if this is normal, or if there is a
way to reduce that?
