5.0 POForm losing Releases

Giving up at this point might mean Uninstalling 8.5 and going back to 8.0. I hear that's a cracker box too trying to clean up all the registry entries and .dll's that the uninstall doesn't get.

I'm sure there's a solution, but who has the time to dig and dig and (mess things up and then fix them) and dig -- Just to get one workstation working.

Troy,

It is at this point that I give up!

If I had 8.5, I'd probably be trying to solve this one along with you, but
still on 8 here. It does sound a weird problem, especially that certain
reports couldn't be printed with the new dlls.

Looks like perhaps only Crystal themselves can solve this one.

Best of luck.

Well, my mistake. I had replaced two of the three dll's back to the
original. Replacing the third one fixed the problem I created by moving them
in the first place. And if anyone can follow this, you're my hero, cause I
sure can't.

To summarize the current situation: Other workstations can Print PO's fine.
The workstation with Crystal 8.5 loses PO Release Detail for the 2nd and
following PO Lines.

For some reason, ever since moving the 8.5 dll's to Vantage\dll, our
purchasers cannot print PO's nor can Sales Orders be printed. I put the old
dll's back into Vantage\dll and they still cannot print.

If they print preview the PO, it will come up on the screen, then
disappear like it is printing, but it won't come out of the printer. It
doesn't work when they don't use print preview either.

Troy,

Was it working OK on the other workstations before you gave Vantage the
8.5
dlls?

Also, have you re-instated the 8.5 dlls on your own system?

Moving the 8.5 dll's you mentioned to the Vantage/dll didn't help the
POForm
problem on my workstation. The report works fine on other workstations
that
don't have CR 8.5. It still must be a dll problem, though.

it

Are you saying it prints OK on one printer, but not OK on another?

Has else anyone found that their Purchase Order Form in 5.00.320 doesn't print any Shipping release detail after the first PO Line prints?

For Instance:
Line 1 20 pieces Part 1232123
Release Detail Due 5/15/01 20 Pieces

Line 2 3 pieces Part 3234xs4ps
Release Detail (blank)

For ANY PO that has more than one line, the release information does not print.

Any clues?

Troy,
We have had this same experience. I can print it on our HP4000 printer and
it prints fine but not on our HP5. I have updated the drivers and still can
not get it to work on the HP5. It seems to be printer specific for some
strange reason. If it was related to the margins it should cut the header
text of as well but it doesn't just line details. I haven't called Epicor
since I thought it was isolated to just us but maybe if we both give them a
call something can be resolved.

I'm with ya,

Well Troy,

I did a little quick research, and yes it was just isolated to one printer.
The same PO, from the same computer but to a different printer would work.

BUT, miraculously the problem has gone away. It may have been fixed in the
500.320 patch. That's the only thing that has been changed since the
problem was first reported.

I like miracles. In this case, Sarah is correct. Crystal 8.5 is the problem. Sometimes it doesn't pay to have the latest, greatest, I guess.

We have a similar problem in 4.00 and an HP5P. If the PO has
more than 1 page the first line is dropped and the total
recalculated. The unedited version from Epicor will work but not
my edited one.
I edited the report again and used a HP IIP driver for the 5P and
it worked for a while and then quit working.
We have updated drivers for the 5P. I don't know if the 5P was
ever set as the report printer.

Both Crystal 8 and 8.5 have some issues when saving reports to the Crystal 7
format. There are differences in the DLL's that Crystal Reports users use,
so that is why some will see the problem and others won't. Some of may have
also noticed that modifying a Crystal 7 report in Crystal 8 will shrink the
font size, example from 10 to 9. There are some quirky incompatibilities.
Seagate's (sorry, Crystal Decisions) solution is to update the DLL files
from v7 to the v8 or v8.5 files on all computers running the reports.
Instructions can be provided on how to do this.

Moving the 8.5 dll's you mentioned to the Vantage/dll didn't help the POForm problem on my workstation. The report works fine on other workstations that don't have CR 8.5. It still must be a dll problem, though.

Sounds like Vantage is using an older version of the Crystal Report Engine
than you are using on your development PC.

If I remember rightly, Vantage 4 is built with version 7 Crystal files,
eManufacturing with version 8. So if you are using a later version of
Crystal than that which Vantage uses, you need to replace the Crystal dll's
in the Vantage/dll folder with those from your development pc.

The three dll's are:

crpaig32.dll
crpe32.dll
p2bxbse.dll

I am still on Version 4. I have crystal 8.5 installed on my machine. Ever
since upgrading to crystal 8.5 I have had this same problem, and it's with
Quotes, Sales orders, etc. As Troy said, I don't see the details even in
the Print Preview. However, if I log in to another users PC (running
Vantage but they do NOT have crystal installed, therefore they are using the
crystal 7 components) everything is fine. Therefore, without doing much
investigation, I think it is a crystal 8 or 8.5 issue... Any one have
different results?

In my case, the Release details don't even show up on the print preview, or
in Crystal reports when I have the report pointed to the DBF files, so it
doesn't seem to be printer problem for us.
Are you saying it prints OK on one printer, but not OK on another?

AFAIK CRW 8.5 doesn't use report distribution. It uses html reports on an internet provider server. (IIS) There is, I think, a utility available from Seagate to distribute 8.5 reports, but I don't know how well it works. Seagate have moved totally away from report distribution.

Troy,

Was it working OK on the other workstations before you gave Vantage the 8.5

Also, have you re-instated the 8.5 dlls on your own system?

I'm having a similar problem with travelers. When I print them from my
station, the operations are missing and I get subassy pages printed that
I've filtered out of the report. When I print from any other station the
report works fine. The print preview in Crystal is also messed up the same
way. When editing, I have to have Vantage running on a Citrix session on my
workstation to get a proper preview.
I used Crystal 8.5 to update my custom reports when we moved to V5. I
checked the three dll's and found the following file dates:

crpaig32.dll: Crystal Workstation = 11/8/98, Vantage Server = 10/30/2000
crpe32.dll: Crystal Workstation = 11/8/98, Vantage Server = 10/30/2000
p2bxbse.dll: Crystal Workstation = 2/3/01, Vantage Server = 10/30/2000

I think that the dll mismatch may have been caused by having Crystal version
7 and 8.5 installed on my workstation at the same time. I removed Version 7
after upgrading to Vantage 5.

I assume that the files dated 11/8/98 are Crystal Version 7, 10/30/2000
files are Crystal Version 8 and the 2/3/01 file is Version 8.5. Can anyone
confirm this? If I remove 8.5 and reinstall, should I expect the dll's to be
updated?

For some reason, ever since moving the 8.5 dll's to Vantage\dll, our purchasers cannot print PO's nor can Sales Orders be printed. I put the old dll's back into Vantage\dll and they still cannot print.

If they print preview the PO, it will come up on the screen, then disappear like it is printing, but it won't come out of the printer. It doesn't work when they don't use print preview either.

Well, my mistake. I had replaced two of the three dll's back to the original. Replacing the third one fixed the problem I created by moving them in the first place. And if anyone can follow this, you're my hero, cause I sure can't.

To summarize the current situation: Other workstations can Print PO's fine. The workstation with Crystal 8.5 loses PO Release Detail for the 2nd and following PO Lines.
