Turn off crash protection.

This is done in Progress Explorer tool.

Remember to turn it on after you are done. Also, the database should be
stopped when making the changes.

Is there any chance you had the PCs using two versions of Vantage. Perhaps for previewing or testing 5.2? If so check the HOSTS file and remove entries for any server which is not on network if it formerly ran Vantage. I had this problem right after conversion where three of us who had been previewing 5.20 and also running 4.0 suddenly saw HUGE delays after the test server was shutdown. There were references to it and its IP address still in the HOSTS file which were now obsolete. As soon as I removed them everything was very much faster. Something to check anyway.

How slow is slow? We average 8 seconds from splash screen to log-in window but sometimes as much as 15 seconds. I modified the splash screen to urge patience.
