Before I reinvent the wheel, I thought I would see what wisdom the
Collective has. Is anyone allocating raw material for specific jobs?
The wire required for our magnet jobs must be in continuous lengths
and we sometimes have several spools of various lengths in stock
(tracked by lots).
We would like to:
A) Check the available lots for a sufficient continous length.
B) "Allocate" that lot, but not issue until use (sometimes 3-12+
months later).
C) See "allocated" and "available" stock levels
seperately. "Available" would always be a first choice, but sometimes
wire allocated for Job A could be borrowed for a much quicker Job B
and reordered without affecting Job A.
D) See which job(s) that Lot X (or portion of Lot) has been allocated
to.
If anyone is doing anything close to this, I would really appreciate
your input.
