[6.1] AT Scheduler for Backup - Security Settings

Cliff & Darren,
Thanks. I see (or rather the user sees) that the "Run As" area is grayed out. In fact we tried re-creating the whole schedule and found he could not cut the command line to paste it into a new one. Looks like the whole task is somewhat corrupted or has ownership issues. A similar thing occured when we originally upgraded to Win2K-Server. I will be in the office tonight shutting down the servers due to a planned power outage by the utility company at 3am tomorrow morning so I will play with it then. Then back to the office in the morning to restart everything. This is a sort of G.W. Bush style vacation I guess. ;)

-Todd

Sounds like you changed domain names and the tasks are trying to run
under the wrong domain account.

Go to scheduled tasks
Right click on the scheduled task - > Properties
Run As: domain/userid
Press the password button - set the password.

Todd,

Should be under control panel - admin tools - services - task scheduler.
Make sure it is running and has admin rights. Under logon you can
select a
specific account that has rights such as administrator and add the
password
there. Hope this helps.

Subject: [Vantage] [6.1] AT Scheduler for Backup - Security Settings

We recently upgraded our Vantage server to Win2K-Server. Then yesterday
had
to demote it as a BDC to just be a member server due to weird bugs in
the
upgrade process mixing up the domain name between the two domain
controllers.
Last night the Vantage backup did not run due to inability to
authenticate
the process. Also our shop bells are not ringing as scheduled for the
same
reason. The domain changes apparently broke all the task security
settings.

I know there are a few simple settings for the AT Account and the
security
as well as someething in an account (batch?) privilage that makes this
work
when the system running the schedule is not the authenticating server
(PDC).
But at the moment I am on vacation and trying to talk my designated
(non-IT)
backup person through getting to work (via the phone and visualizing in
my
head what he is seeing) and I do not have my notes with me.

Can anyone list the 2-3 or so basic steps and places to look on the two
servers to set the scheduled tasks to be able to be allowed to run. If
they
are basic enough steps I can just forward the repones to the onsite
person.
The next scheduled task is at 1:20pm central time.

Thanks very much!
