If the version of Office97 includes Access I think I would look at a couple things....
1. Uninstall and reinstall the Progress client and Vantag Client on affected PCs and see if this helps
2. Download from Microsoft and install the latest version of MDAC on some clients and see if that helps. Could be Access97 (in installed) loaded an older version that worked for 5.2 but is too old for Progress 9.1d. I had this happen once upon a time.

Subject: [Vantage] 6.1 Crashes
I know there are some issues with Vantage and Office 97 causing crashes, but
my problem seems more than that.
I just upgraded from 5.2 to 6.1. My problem work stations are all W98, some
with Office 97 installed, one with Office2000 (previously had Office97). On
the problem workstations, Vantage won't start, or crashes: displaying a MFG
error with the option of "Cancel" or "Ignore". Selecting either one usually
degrades to a Prowin32 error, and then degrades further to a Rundll32 error
that forces the user to turn off the pc.
On one workstation I uninstalled Office97, reinstalled it, and the problem
went away for about 2 days, but returned with same problems, and now AutoCad
errors also show up. NO upgrades to windows have been done since conversion
to 6.1. I've removed previous progress versions from registry. Never had a
problem with Vantage 5.2
One of my workstations has the same problems, but Office97 has never been
installed on it.
Any ideas.
