6.1 credit limit

Hi

We need to upgrade but not sure if i am brave enough......

D
Hi

Is there any way to change the default value in the customers credit
limit?
Currently when a customer is added it goes in as zero. Which stops
credit checking happening.
Ideally we would like it to default to one.

Obviously we could do things like alerts and security this all needs
some one to do something immediately a customer is added..
We seem to do lots of one off sales and when customers are added they
effectively get an infinite credit limit before accounts have had a
chance to do credit checking.

The Sales guys get used to the hold warnings, so if a zero gets
through and the sales operator does not realise they can get large
amount of credit.
Cheers for any thoughts

You can write a BPM to do this on Customer Update or Get new Customer

They don't have BPMs in version 6.1...the only thing at your disposal
are BAQs to trigger that email....

But who creates the customer to begin with? Why not just your basic
business process to have THAT person enter the dollar value as well? It
is on the same screen, isn't it? It's been a while since I was on 6.1!

Hi
We allow SOP people to add customer detail so they can do instant
credit card deals, without having to complete a paper form to get
the details then go to accouts to have them added, which normally
happens at end of day / month so its allways painfull. As we have
high limit account as well the accounts will not allow them to have
access to the credit limit section.

Which is fine for one off customers BUT a Zero in the credit limit
effectivly gives them an infinate credit limit not subject to the
normal hold processes in Vantage. (Same as V8 and V9 so i am told)
Being able to default this to 1 would sort all the issues. and allow
us to be flexible to take one off non credit orders, but aslo allow
us to add NEW big customers details directly and know that a shipment
will not slip through before credit checks are complete.

Then, unless you know someone who can do progress programming, I think
you are stuck with triggering an alert to your accountants to take care
of this.

The company config does not set any limits as default unfortunately.

Or you could always upgrade and take advantage of BPMs in version
8.03...just kidding!

We are on 8.03.405 and when I add a new Customer they do have a Credit Limit
of 0, but they are automatically put on Credit Hold. That will give a
Warning when all Sales Orders are placed. In our company this causes the
Order Entry people to call the Credit Manager to review the Customer Credit
Limit and Hold status. It sounds like this is basically what you are asking
for. A $1 Credit Limit forces the same thing (unless you are selling penny
candy).
