[6.1]Crystal Rpt export crash

An update - not installing 2 of the patches corrected the export crash
(still working without crashing) but it appears to have had an interesting
side effect (like a lot of drugs these days that fix one thing but may cause
other problems)- when printing job travelers, my workstation prints the
operation details on only Assembly level 0 - no operation details on any
other level. go figure.

At Steve's suggestion, I uninstalled CR, made sure all the files were gone -
including registry files, reinstalled CR, without the Epicor patches, and at
least for now it is working (20 exports in a row). I then installed the
report distribution patch, and still have no problems - so it's working
without installing 2 of the 3 Epicor patches.

FYI, I am using CR 8.5

I would try to not have all the patches installed. A service pack gave
me a lot of grief when we updated our version of crystal last year.

I would say give it a shot with a fresh install off the crystal cd, and
see if the problem still persists. Then at least you will know a little
bit more about where your problem might be.

I just recently got a new pc and installed CR and all the patches , but
my
exports from CR to Excel is causing CR to crash intermittently.
Sometimes I
can export several times successfully, but then it crashes. Re-opening
CR I
can export successfully the first time, but after that is anyone's guess
if
it works or crashes - and it doesn't matter whether I overwrite a file
or
export to a new file.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled CR several times with the same results.
The old PC still works flawlessly.

Any ideas?

I know Epicor doesn't necessary recommend installing all the service
packs..I've seen in some instances where they only want you to run a
certain version of Crystal forever...8.5, etc.

I didn't install any of the service patches, just the export patches
downloaded from eipcor for CR 8.5

Hi Norm,

I have the same problem also. I haven't found a solution that has completely fixed the problem, or even isolated the cause. One thing that does seem to work for me when it acts up, is to run/refresh the report, save the report, exit Crystal, reopen the report and then export without refreshing. Also, I have always been able to export to a CSV file, and then convert (a pain sometimes, depending on the report).

Liz
