6.1 Performance issues

We did not change servers or server names. I am going to try patch 511
and see how that works for us.

We have been on 6.1 (from 5.2) since May, and are experiencing more than
usual performance issues in this upgrade. In particular, the job links
screen, at times, takes a substantial amount of time to load. I
followed the guidelines for Progress Fine Tuning then the problem got
worse. At this point I restored the settings to what they were in 5.2,
and it became moderately better. I understand as newer versions come
out there is going to be some performance degradation in the same
hardware environment. I was just wondering if anybody else has seen
this and how it was overcome.

I moved from 5.1 to 6.0 and experienced severe performance issues as
well, but with quoting. I upgraded the db server to 2003 from 2000 and
went through the fine tuning procedures, etc. I even discussed with
Vantage tech support a few other tweeks and it still didn't get any
better. So, we upgraded our hardware to a HP DL 360 with dual 3.5 Xeon
Processors and 4GB of RAM and our performance has increased
substantially. In my opinion, Epicor fails to emphasis the importance
of the backend meaning that when jumping from v5.x to v6.x you probably
have to upgrade your db server or at least that was my experience.
