6.1 to 8.03 - Data Conversion

There is info on how to do data conversions (without the use of ODBC) in the manuals.

I am looking to upgrade a site from Vantage 6.1 to 8.03, and we have about 10+ years of data in 6.1. We do not want to simply upgrade all the data (er, garbage) that is in 6.1, but would possibly like to upgrade a subset. In the old days (early 8.0), I did this via ODBC. What are the other options out there?

I know there's DMT, but given that we just went through getting back on support, approaching mgmt about more licensing is not much of an option at this point.

Thanks for your inputs.
Kevin
I don't know how you are going to seperate the "garbage" data from the "non-garbage" data.

Anyway what I did was follow the Epicor manuals on upgrades and migrations, the database conversions are included in the cd's for 8.0 and 8.3 etc. I used VM ware to create an upgrade environment with different version of Vantage installed and so could do the upgrade without effecting the production environment.

Separation of data would take place primarily based upon dates. For
example, I may only want to pull over Shipments since 1/1/2010, customers
with activity since 1/1/2009, etc.

I was part of one of the first 8.0 installs, before Epicor had much in the
way of data conversion tools (and coming from a legacy system). I used ODBC
connections to import data, and was able to filter/massage the data coming
out of our legacy system. I really don't want to go the ODBC route, and was
hoping there were other options.

Thanks.

Kevin

I don't know how you are going to seperate the "garbage" data from the
"non-garbage" data.

Anyway what I did was follow the Epicor manuals on upgrades and migrations,
the database conversions are included in the cd's for 8.0 and 8.3 etc. I
used VM ware to create an upgrade environment with different version of
Vantage installed and so could do the upgrade without effecting the
production environment.
