8.0 to 8.0.3 Blank Title 56472

Paul,

Not sure if you are aware, but you can actually "create" the manager
user ID and password. When you first launch Vantage, leave the username
and password blank...click login and it will automatically create the
manager/manager user ID. From there you can begin the process. You don't
necessarily have to do this for the conversion, but it is handy to know
if you are setting up the training database.

Thanks,

The database in the conversion doesn't have a manager/manager login.
You have to copy over your database then run the schema change. I
installed the Crystal program on my client PC not the server, so I
didn't run into the issue. But the Crystal Runtime is installed and
that's not an issue.

Anyone have issues migrating 8.0 to 8.03? I install per the data sheet
on epicor, however when I follow the directions to the letter, I end
up unable to change schema. Also when I run crystal reports XI it also
now reboots my server. Anyone run into any similar issues?

Thanks,

James

You may need to change your Database to UTF-8, especially if you have an
upgraded db from 6.1 or prior. If you do not you will find that 803
will crash during the schema change

James,

First, what type of server software are you running on? What version of
Vantage 8.03.xxx? Also, if you had Epicor do your prior to 8.x
conversion for you, then you MUST enable UTF-8 as all databases coming
from Epicor will be in that format - regardless of what you sent them.
This should be documented in your email you received from them.

To do this find and edit the necessary .PF file under
\Epicor\mfgsys803\Server\Config...here you will have several .PF files
to choose from (mfgsys.pf is the main one). If your file does not have
the following line(s), add them:

-cpinternal utf-8 -cpstream utf-8 -cprcodein utf-8

If you have any other value for -cpinternal, -cpstream or -cprcodein
comment them out. Save the file and retry your schema change. Again, you
will need to change the appropriate .PF file for your environment.

As far as Crystal Reports XI I have both the runtime and the developer
edition running well on a Windows 2003 Standard server.
