8.00.800 to 8.03.305

It's always finished with a message saying "0 errors" for me when converting 8.03.408 to 9.04.503b.

And 8.03.408 to 9.03.504.

I am trying to upgrade my database from 8.00 to 8.03

I restored an 8.0 backup to my 803 folder and repaired and truncated,
then started the database. I then went to 8.03 menu and ran Vantage
Schema Change. It runs then later I come back to it and it has
disappeared. I then go to the Vantage 8.03 Admint Tools and it tells me
database schema changes are required:

Database Level: 8.00.800

Program Level: 8.03.305

I go back to schema change and it shows the same info in the status
field. Am I missing something?

I do believe you need to run schema change twice
First time gets db to 8.00.800
Next time gets it to 8.03.xxx

The Schema Change shouldn't disappear. Does your server have a session timeout limit? If it's shorter than how long it takes to do the conversion, I suspect that's what happened. You should remove the timeouts for conversions... some of them can be quite long.

Also if you're on SQL, there's a file called ...clientserver\db\sql\vschmsql.dcd. You should save this BEFORE the conversion in case you have to run the conversion again. It keeps track of the schema changes. You should restore it from the original before running the Schema Change again. Not sure if this applies to versions before 8.03.405a.

I don't think it is a session issue since I did this from 6.1 to 8.0 and
that happened throughout a span of 3 days

It does (did) when you go to 9.04. It stops without a message after 8.03.500
then you restart it and it takes you to 9.04.503. Epicor says it's a bug.

Mark W.
If you are running MS SQL, personally I always prefer running the schema
changes manually instead of via the Schema change took, it's much faster.
