8.03.305H BAQ Report Designer

Gary,

That's very valuable info. Thanks so much for sharing.

FYI: I also found out this morning from Epicor that there is a known
bug regarding the pack slip data definition and trying to link the
orderdtl table!

Melissa,

Can't say this is the same problem, but I had same problem in version 305I.
When I created the same report in version 403D the report ran fine.
Technical support told me that there were lots of bugs fixed in version 400.

Check to see whether the running of the BAQ report generated any XML

If it did set the datasource in the crystal report and see if you can
pick up and verify the data

Then save it and redeploy and rerun the BAQ report

See if it then works

Two of the post on this thread caught my attention because I have
been told both that the SDK is required to add tables and get the
data in Crystal and that this is not true.

I am having the issue of not getting any data for the OrdDtl table
when I link it into the pack list document. (link via
company, ordernum, orderline, orderrelnum to the Packdtl table). The
XML document is produced with no data provided for the OrdDtl table.

Has anyone else had this experience and more importantly been able to
resolve it? I have tried reducing the links to just the company code
in case it considered the linking I selected to be inappropriate.

Anyone?

Thanks,

John

Up until Vantage 803, you needed the SDK to add any tables into the
report definitions (Vantage 8.00).

Since Vantage 803 you can add tables, but in certain cases you may need
the SDK in order to keep away from ODBC and SQL.

Ms. Melissa: I found that The Test function in 8.03.305H (prior to
publishing) only returns two records and is basically useless for
laying out your forms. Once you have the tables established for your
report go ahead and publish the report and then run it from Test.
You should then get the full XML dataset.

Good Luck,

Hi Gary,

Thanks for your response. I guess the million dollar question
is, "What are the certain cases?" I'm not looking to do anything
unusual and the table actually already appears in the default data
definition. Do you or anyone know where this is documented when you
cross that line?

I had checked with Epicor in the past on the SDK and it is a $10k
package with a mandatory $10k in training. Needless to say, I find
it entirely unacceptable that I would need to spend $20k to add a
table to a report.

Any further insights would be *greatly* appreciated.

Thanks,

John

Maybe this has already been mentioned, but have you looked through the
'Report Data Definition' functionality under Company config ? I've
had some success copying an existing RDD there, & then modifying the copy.

Sometimes you cannot retrieve data into the XML if the relationships are
two or more deep in the definition

Also, it does not allow you to enter the same table in twice, therefore
for example you cannot get a sales managers name as it is linked from
and stored within the salesrep table.

Thanks,

John
