8.03.406a Blank Title 70701

Thank you, maybe I'm confused.

The "Inspection" entries I see in Time Phase only appear from material that is "Inspection Required", is this right?
If a shop employee marks 2 of the 5 pieces on a job out on non-conformance, Time Phase still shows the job with 5.
Is this as it should be? I always figured it left it that way because you might not want to necessarily trust the opinion of the floor person as to whether the part is trash or not, but rather leave it to the Inspector to make that determination.

Material in inspection showing in Time Phase has been around since at least 405.

One other thing, and though it is a good thing, it might throw you off.

Material in Inspection now shows in Time Phase

I had QA call me, they were concerned that the inspection "bin" would now be available to pick.

nothing has changed internally, material in inspection is still in the "twilight zone", but it shows on Time Phase.

Is this new?

Thanks Tony (and others).

I've not noticed anything odd with Time Phase but I'll check it

again, thankfully we don't use the configurator or scheduling so

we're not affected by bugs related to those.

Thanks.

Where can you find a list of what it fixes?
I have a couple of weird things since applying 406 that I have noticed, wondering if they're fixed.

I know a number of things in the configurator that broke in 406. One that they fixed was displaying the configuration summary screen, unfortunately it ignores the "hide input" settings and will display all your input fields (this appaears to be just on Progress and doesn't happen on SQL). Another thing that was messed up was the configurator now runs twice anytime you save a configuration.

I was really disapointed in finding out that 406 didn't include a fix for the 79 keep when rule limitation. This fix is now scheduled for 407.

According to the documentation for 406a the 79 keep when rule limitation is fixed. We shall see shortly.

Hey Clive,
A couple things, one I can reproduce, the other I can't reproduce, but I trust the people telling me enough to take it seriously.

1.
Field sales people create a quick job (Quick Job Entry) in order to basically assemble 4-5 parts in to another part.
The basic steps are create job in Quick Job Entry, then Mass Issue to Mfg.
When they go in to Job Receipt to Inventory it will not offer a warehouse in the From Warehouse.

2.
Time Phase shows screwy numbers. I am not 100% sure if it is a problem, or not. I trust the user who told me, but she'll tell me one part one day, I'll let Net Change run over night, and next day that part looks fine. Then I tell her, she'll say yes it looks good, but then tell me two other parts that don't look right.

Clive,
Well, I've found that the ability to put cost adjustments into the grid in the Part Adjustment program doesn't work right (it will require you to keep hitting the return key for each entry after the first). Sheduled to be fixed in 407. Next, we did a PO search using the default of 100 searches returned and it couldn't find a PO. Changing the number returned from 100 to 1000, it could find it. Scheduled to be fixed in 408.

Hi Steve,

We are also looking at installing the 406a patch and our product
configurator guru was interested in a little more info about your
reference to one of the problems in 406a: "....the configurator now
runs twice anytime you save a configuration." (is this upon approval
of configurated part...does it go through the processing twice, so it
takes twice as long to save a configured part?)

Yes to everything you said.

When you press the save button it takes twice as long, and if you are creating a new part in the part master table you will get the warning twice that the part exists if it already exists. If it doesn't exits, you get the warning once, supposedly after it creates it the first time around. Even running the test inputs will display the results twice. Besides getting the popups twice and it taking twice as long I haven't noticed any other bad things happening from it running twice.

We are on 8.03.406 Progress and my configurator creates new parts in the part master table and saves the inputs. I don't know if this happens with any other configurator designs. I plan to install the 406a patch this afternoon. I will let you know if it fixes this problem even though it wasn't listed as one of the fixes.

I've got good news and bad news on 8.03.406a

The good news is that it looks like the double save on the configurator has been fixed. It also looks like the 79 keep when limitation has been increased, but not eliminated. I counted 373 pcrules before it started ignoring my keep when rules. This was a count of all my pcrules, so I'm guessing that the keep when rules probably are ignored at around 256 keep when rules. Just a guess at the number, but in computer math it makes some sense.

Thanks Tony (and others).

I've not noticed anything odd with Time Phase but I'll check it
again, thankfully we don't use the configurator or scheduling so
we're not affected by bugs related to those.

Thanks.

Product Configurator:

Thanks Steve, I'll pass along info, great that 406a fixed the
duplication.

Timephase:
We are on 8.03.404b and we have Material in Inspection showing up on
Timephase (I believe it was the same in 6.1 also?)

That's interesting, I wonder why all of a sudden everyone in QA and Planning is acting like it's completely new to see it in Time Phase?
