8.03.4XX Search Box Question

Thank you all for your help with this issue. Your feedback has been very helpful! Adding "<DefaultSearchPageSize value="1000" />" to the default.mfgsys file allows you to edit the search criteria.

Thanks again!

Brian,

If it's not in your .mfgsys file, it won't show up in the configuration editor. I discovered that a little while ago - and only because I've somehow wound up with at least two client installations on my machine. Copying the new default.mfgsys to the shortcut target [i.e. the client I actually use] produced the results Nigel and Bernie [who wrote me offline] described.

Now, how to get it in the file if you don't have an up to date version to copy, I'm not certain. Wait a minute, I am too. Cut and paste this line right below the "DefaultSearchFormL ocation" line in your default.mfgsys:

<DefaultSearchPageS ize value="1000" />

And then you can change the number to whatever you wish. Don't know about other changes in the file, though.

I would like to set a default for the number of rows that is returned when a user is using a search box. For instance, if a user currently attempts to search for a job in job entry, and then clicks the "Options" button under the job search, a box will popup with a checkbox for "Return All Rows" and a textbox for "Maximum Rows Returned." By default the "Maximum Rows Returned" is equal to 100. Is there a way that I can modify this so that the maximum rows will default in as another number?

Check out configeditor.exe in the client803 folder - on the user tab
is an option to set the nuber of items returned by search

I just tried that and if it's there, the label is the most obscure
thing I've found yet in Vantage. MAXBOMRU on the application tab has a
value of 100, but when I changed that to 1000 and logged on, the
search box still defaulted to 100 rows. I'm on 405A. Do you know
what I should look for??

I don't see this setting in 8.03.405. Is this new in .406? I
remember Rich Riley mentioning this in Vegas but don't remember what
version its tied to.

Thanks Lynn. That's obnoxious behavior in my mind - the config tool
should give you the entire repertoire of config options and write the
XML appropriately.

(Nice to meet you in Las Vegas, by the way!)
