Thanks Todd!

Which file is the DB? Mfgsys or mfgsys.df?

Joe,

That is correct. There is an empty db container in the db/newdb
directory. Copy it to your target db folder and run prorest on it. Then
start db and login with 'manager' and leave password blank.

Subject: [Vantage] 8.03 post install questions

Hello,

I finished installing 8.03 and I just installed 8.03.304.

The instruction for 8.03.304 say to run the admin tool so that the
mandatory data conversions can take place.

I went to start the four 8.03 databases (MfgSys803, Train803, Pilot803,
and Test803) but only the MfgSys803 started without error.

The other databases gave me an error like "Startup of database
localhost:20931:MfgTrain803 failed - file not found (JUNMsg023)."

Is this because there are no databases installed for these databases? If
so, I take that to mean that I would have to do a restore to one of
these databases.

Thanks,

Joe Rojas

That's exactly how I'd take it. We choose not to convert our Test database and
just restored a copy of live using the standard backup/backrest method.

However, we did install the training database that shipped (and I think you
can download too). Before you use that database, you'll have to go to the
Training Admin icon and use your software keys to enable that database for
your system.

Thanks Mark!

I have a follow up question. If I wanted to convert my 8.00 database to
an 8.03 database, would I first have to do the restore and then enter
the software codes? It appears that I can't enter the codes unless the
database is running and I can't start the database because there isn't
one.

Thanks,

If I recall, the training database is not set up as part of the standard
install anymore and must be installed separately. I guess the best way
to check is look in the epicor\train803 folder and see if there is
anything there.
You get errors for pilot803 & test803 as those databases are not
installed with the standard install. You only get mfgsys803 & train803
databases with standard install. There is a new version of training
database MfgSys803304a.zip available for download at Epicor portal. You
can restore that as your training db.

Thanks & Regards,

Tejas Kirtane
