Only if the make direct part is set up for MRP processing. (Typically, you would set your parts of for non-MRP/OrderJobWIzard processing (for NonStocks) or MRP (stocked parts). - not both).
What happens if you rerun order job wizard? (Do you get a new jobs representing the balance due?)
Assuming ther partial shipment was made from the original job (before demand links were deleted), you should be able to reduce original job qty (labor entry, material issues) to match the partial receipt/shipment - and then reapply mtl, incurred labor to the new job.
Before doing anything, verify the partial shiopped line/release is OPEN. Some versions have show a nasty habit of closing partial lines (and closing them).
If that is the case, you may then be able to reestablish the link (and then perhaps then split of the balance - both for job & release).

Im pretty certain when you run MRP next it should create a new unfirmed
job to that release that no longer has any supply linked to it. Perhaps
you could roll with that, reduce quantities on the original job, close
it out and adjust your numbers on the newly suggested job. If you can
wait that long..or if you even use MRP..

Without going really deep into details, that will not work in our
environment. .
