We use sales orders to manage these. To prevent the skewing of our sales
figures, we use a different Product Group on the sales order line. We then
use the uninvoiced shipment report to manage the out-standing products. We
RARELY see the units returned so this system works well for us.

Just wondering if anyone does internal requisitions for finished goods going to sales reps,
or items going to trade shows for demos?
Currently we are using Lotus Notes to create/approve the requests and creating
a sales order in Vantage. We are trying to move off of Notes, but would like to
consolidate everything in Vantage instead of creating another database.Â

We're on 6.1 and for years we've been handling finished goods sales samples
and/or show demos with unique ware houses. Why do you need a sales order?
Sounds like these are not really sales (?) - which could skew the sales
history. Not sure if this would fit your need too, but if the issue is
simply keeping track of inventory, this method maintains all products as an
inventory asset even though it may not physically reside on site. We use
comments/references and logs associated with the warehouse transfer
transaction to record where each item is and in who's custody.

Hope this helps.

Stan
