New microsft china language processing keyword based upon the multilingual, technical shorthand no coomonly known as 'texting'.

Guessing it's about 1 yr max from commercial applicatioñ(starting in China) in no more inoccuous way than spell check has been glued on to hundreds of apps.

The power here is that it breaks the language barrier on a massive scale yet is subtle enough ti convey emotion (the capatalized WTF) convey's its urgency & a look up routine revealing that WTF is an desperate 'oath' further reveals things in the message (as context in shorthand messaging MUST play be clear rules and also be very explicit as to their heirarchial meaning).

Just kidding. (Or am I?!? Hey?! WTf

Has anyone gone to .601?

We have been in the process of going from 8.03 to 9.05. We had originally planned to convert in early September. In our testing we found a few issues (bugs) that we considered show stoppers in 9.05.600b. The bugs are supposed to be fixed in .601 and in reading the release notes, it looks like they are. The list of fixes in .601 covers about 60 pages. Which is either good or horrifying depending on how you look at it. We need to get this upgrade completed and I am nervous that while our .600b bugs were fixed, there are a number of new ones yet to be discovered.

So far we have been unable to install .601 due to problems with the installer for 64 bit environments. We are working with support of course, but it is unsettling that Epicor can't put out a release where the install process works. It seems like every time we try to install anything the install instructions are wrong or incomplete.

Has anyone been installed .601? If so, did you find anything noteworthy?

Is it me, or does Epicor support seem to be getting worse?

Thanks
Reading this, I thought I wrote this and did not rememberÂ…
We are in the exact place you are, go-live from 803 planned for Oct-8/11 and have been testing extensively 905.600C
We too have a long list of open items and show stoppers and found fixes for many of our issues in the 601 write-up
I spent all weekend trying to upgrade to 601 and spent all Monday/Tuesday with their support to identify the issues
Current issue is with SQL non-UniCode version
You need the 32-bit admin console to run on a `workstation' and they `forgot' to update the 32-bit console programs in the SP package.
If you are in my situation, check the /32/Clientserver directory and the dates of the admin menus – they should be September not April or what ever version you have now.
I have asked development to expedite this and have not heard back yet
If you have a solution for this, please post so all of us know about this

Thanks
Motty

Bryan,

We are currently on 9.05.600c and I am testing 601. The fix list is indeed
extensive but has resolved some significant bugs for us. I found one issue with
the AR Invoice which once associated BPMs as disabled will resolve it. Also,
for some reason the job number format has once again changed i.e. jobs created
from within Sales Order now have leading zeros, this was not the case in 600c.

I installed 601 with the 32bit version and had no problems, Â however my
production environement calls for the 64bit installation which I am hoping to do
soon. What issue did you encounter with this install? Also, did it install
temporary files on your C drive? I had issues with 9s installer in that it
checked the C drive for available space despite the actual installation was
being made to another drive, and since suffcient space was not available it
refused to install until free space was created. I hope this is not this case
.....

PaulÂ

Motty - We are in the exact same spot. We are waiting to hear back from support. We are told we will receive something this afternoon. I will call them by 3:00 if we don't.

Bryan,

I just did hit a major issue... I am doing the install a second time on another
test server which has similar specs i.e. C drive has 3GB, D drive 125GB and
install indicates that i don't have suffcient hard drive space even before I
select which drive to install. Apparently, during the verification process
files are transfered to my C drive by default and because my drive is small all
cannot fit. I am currently on hold with EPicor to hear what they will say...If
I don't get this resolved I am stuck on 600c for life (lolol) since my
production server has a small allocation for the C drive as well... We all seem
to have lots of fun with Epicor and our beloved product....

Just got off the phone with support and data conversion is running.
issue was in the PROPATH set in the .ini file that your Data Admin Tools are using (check the path) - once corrected it started to run. here is the line we corrected:
PROPATH=.,C:\Program Files\Epicor Software\Epicor905\Clientserver,C:\Program Files\Epicor Software\Epicor905\Clientserver,C:\Program Files\Epicor Software\Epicor905\Server,C:\Program Files\Epicor Software\Epicor905\Server,C:\Program Files\Epicor Software\Epicor905\32\Custom,C:\Program Files\Epicor Software\Epicor905\Custom,C:\Program Files\Epicor Software\Epicor905\BPMExec\LiveBPM,C:\Program Files\Epicor Software\Epicor905\,C:\program files\epicor\oe102a\gui,C:\program files\epicor\oe102a\,C:\program files\epicor\oe102a\bin

Forgive me, but 3GB and 125 GB respectively sounds pretty light for a server capable of E9. 3GB isn't even enough for a respectable pagefile.

Has anyone been successful in downloading the complete .601 package? It keeps
timing out on us. We tried both the website and the FTP site but it keeps
bombing.

Also, the partial one downloaded but it is corrupt.

Yes, I'll say it...WTF?

All kidding aside, I'd wait (and stew!) and in EXACTLY 55 minutes call and ask if it's been resolved (before teasing yourself by starting the download - only to have it possibly bomb).

Assuming you're E Coast and a long week is rapidly getting longer, anyway you can skedaddle and do this remotely from home?

(Does this HAVE to happen tonight? Sounds like the Epicor Gods are sending a message: 'Do it Monday'....)

They could spend all night going back and forth w/ their ISP saying their Bob's Bargain Basement server is 'working as designed' and the ISP is the problem.

go home!

601A? I don't even see that up there for download yet...

I did manage to get a good copy of 601-32P and 601-64P downloaded last week though, but they have been a pain to work with so far... not a fan of the new installer versus the old basic zip package...
