At minimum, here's what needs to happen.

- Test the software, preferably on a seperate test server, allowing
management to review the new modules and such, possibly setup users with a
client on the test side.
- Draft upgrade schedule based on data collected from the test upgrade
- Draft procedures around the new / changed functionality.
- revise those procedures, inform users thereof.
- Upgrade January 1st?

Sounds like fun.

Lemme try again.

Daring, bold, courageous, willing to lay down life and sanity for his fellow
vantage users.

Seriously though, there's two approaches you can take.

Pull out the CD and the documentation, upgrade, and plan for a good 2 to 4
weeks of decreased productivity while everyone figures out how to use all
this new stuff and argues how it should be implemented, as well as
converting crystal reports that no longer work, and addressing any problems
that may be specific to your database, remapping report builder fields, etc.

-OR-

Do a test upgrade or two, install some clients on key user's machines, and
examine the program so you can prepare users for when it changes. You may
find that some of the modules require procedural changes that you can't
implement without some significant procedural modifications. Test reports
to make sure they work. That way, upgrade day will mark the beginning of
increased productivity.

This could potentially be done in a month, if it's your primary job
description, and you're willing to put in a little OT. Christmas day you
can take off, though I'd consider cancelling the new years eve party.
