ACH Debits - Child Support

We have a lot of child support payments, and we have NEVER had them draw
funds from our bank account. We set up a deduction for child support and
then we issue a check to the person(s) listed on the order. If Indiana has
to withdraw from your account, I would enter a manual check for each
withdrawal.

I hope this is a silly question that everyone has an answer for me... we
just started having the Indiana Child Support service taking the funds from
our account for our employees who have to pay child support.... how do you
get this into Vantage.... do you just set it up as an electronic payment?
And how does this show up when you need to do the bank statement.....
Thanks for your help!!!
Stephanie

We enter a manual check for this, that way it shows on the bank statement as a check in the AP section just like all others. We have not had the time to look at how the electronic payment works. That might be better... I don't know.

Stephanie:
We aren't doing the Electronic payment yet, (we still print the A/P check) but this is how I would set it up: Set up the child support as a normal deduction, then set the State up as a vendor in Accounts Payable and do the electronic payment thru A/P. This way all of the transactions are very clean - including the payment on the bank statement.

We set up a "bank account" called child support and use the Banks Funds
Transfer function. We had used manual checks but the transfers are a little
less work and provide good audit trail.
