I have a set of home pages that are published and assigned to users based upon department. For example, a purchasing home page for purchasing.
The users have added their own tiles to the home, in effect, personalizing it.
If I republish the underlying active home, will the users personalizations be overriden and therefore deleted?

Have you tried out using personalization purge. Think it is the global option or main menu one. That controls the the layout custom.
Do users already have a default home page selected in user account security maintenance? Maybe set it to a new one there. We did a main one call MAIN426 (month year). Then released another one called MAIN826 a few months later. Then deleted the old one. DMT’d the user account to the new menu. Maybe what we are doing could also work for you. Your example PURCHASING826
Yes - I have the home page set in the user profile.
I want to keep the personlizations, so I hoping they are not purged when I upgrade the base page.
Effectively when the user logs in it is the new base home page + their personalizations.
Don’t think you can preserve the personization and add updates to the base.
How many do you think have modified the layer, added tiles, removed tiles, or edited tiles loacally?
I am guessing it isn’t a bunch. Then most users will just get the new layout at next login.

We took away the ability for users to ‘update’ their homepages as we classified ours as Corporate Homepages. We published a load for all departments and if users wanted tiles added it had to be something that was required by everyone. Users soon came round to the idea.
