Adding a new Site

I am in the process of creating a new site in our Kinetic environment for the site that is still on E9 and i am wondering the best way to do this. When i created the Kinetic environment originally, Live was created with one site and i uploaded the config data to that and left it blank otherwise and therefore when i created pilot and test environment for UAT and Cutover testing i would just copy the blank live environment to whichever we were working on and build from scratch. When we went Live i just uploaded all data to ‘live’.
My question is, as i am creating a new site, is it possible to create this in live (Config wise) without causing any issues to the existing site or should i be looking at this differently? How would be best to handle this when actually ‘Going Live’?

Any guidance will be most appreciated.

No not really. Even if you dont authorize users to access the new site, it will still show up on some drop downs.

no issues with adding a new site but my advice would be to only add one if it is really another site etc. Once created and you have records against it (partplant), you wont be able to delete it.

You have a pilot environment, utilise this for testing and playing around rather than live etc.

Hi Paul,
Yeah i have been doing some setup testing in Pilot, i just wanted to make sure i was going down the right path and not missing anything. Seeing how others have handled it so to speak.

I dont mind that, will just have to remind users of this so they dont start asking strange questions. I guess i am just trying to understand the best method for doing it?

So… financially… are you experienced with making a new site?

Will the inventory in the new site be hitting the same GL accounts as the existing site(s)? (Meaning, is that what you want?)

Also, do part numbers overlap between sites?

Because POs and sales orders can work across site lines.

We will be replicating was setup in our E9 system before we migrated one of the sites to Kinetic

No, our GLs will have a Divisional segment

Also, do part numbers overlap between sites?

They used to but when we migrated the first site to Kinetic, they took over with them Customers that they use leaving the customers and parts for the other site in E9. Now there may be some occasional cross-over but not much.

OK, you know the score. Just wanted to make sure you were not surprised.

That’s always nice. Ours overlap a ton, and it makes for interesting times.

Before we migrated site 1 there were loads and it was quite a headache. Thankfully now, with the way the business wants to report its financials etc.. even if there is cross over, the piece parts will essentially be dealt with differently over both sites.

do you run MRP because adding a site could add extra quirks. For example if there is a need to run a separate process for each site. Also is there enough time for the MRP’s to run etc??

We currently only run MRP in the site that is already on Kinetic, again that was a similar setup to when both sites were on E9.
