Adding Work Station Clients with MFG Client Setup

What kind of "Slow" are you talking about ? 20 seconds or 2 minutes ?

There are a few tweaks to speed things up - what kind of hardware
configuration do your workstations have?
Which OS?

We've been using Terminal Services because we have so many remote sites
- in the beginning we just wanted everybody to be "the same". Now I'm
migrating people one by one (who are local to the server) to access from
their workstation.

It works but opening Vantage seems to be a lot slowwwwwwer from the
workstation than from the terminal server. Is there a setting I'm
missing when installing the client?

Thank you,

Sue

We've gotten away from installing direct for two reasons... it's slower
because the client PC is typically not as fast as the Terminal Server... not
as many PC's to install Vantage on.

We only have direct on Accounting, Data Collection and Inspection PC's
because they're in Vantage all day long -- using the Progress 90-minute
timeout. Others are on Terminal Server with a 15-minute timeout. So far,
this works out quite well.

I suspect everyone will be on Terminal Server for Vantage 8 because it's
supposed to have individual timeouts. We also have our Terminal Server
connected directly to the Vantage Server with one NIC. The other NIC's are
connected to the network for client access.
