After Image Writer

Brian

From a progress database point of view it makes sense. When I looked at
adding AIW which was a couple of servers and a couple of versions of
progress ago. Performance was such a big issue that anything that had even a
hint of slowing things down I would stay away from. But now I think your
right it makes sense to add.

Patrick,

It sounds like you are holding back some info here. Can you explain your
reason for not implementing? I've always thought about trying to implement
AIW, but haven't gotten around to it.

How many out there are using AIW, any thoughts...

Thanks,

I saw a message you posted a while ago about "After Image Writing",
Having just completed a Progress Database Admin Course and knowing
what AIW is about I want to implement it here at Weaver. Did you
implement AIW at Specialty Screw? Did you discover any support
issues? According to Progress the DB has to be started with a script
that contains the additional command to start the AI writer.
TIA

Russ,

Now your armed and dangerous, you may want to test and see if adding AIW
slows down performance. For the record I did not implement adding AIW on my
production database.

Patrick
It's such a nice for disk failure if it's implemented right. I'll let
you know how it goes.
Russ
