Allocation Question

Good afternoon,

We are having an issue with GL allocations that are run balance based. We have found that whenever there is a balance of any kind in the offset account that the balance based allocation gives a massively incorrect number. If the offset account has a zero balance or there is no offset account the issue does not happen.

Has anyone ever run into this before? We’ve had a ticket open with support for almost 6 months regarding these issues and they don’t seem to understand much about the allocations in general.

I am still at a loss on this issue. I have had a ticket open with Epicor since August for it and they haven’t come up with anything at all. They are now trying to close the ticket stating that the issue is unique to my agency’s database. However our allocation consultant from a 3rd party company is able to reproduce it. We also have a Training database that shares none of the data of my regular database and has Epicor companies and an their COA. I was able to reproduce the issue there.

Here is a detailed walk through of the issue I am having with balance based GL allocations (on the Training DB in the EPIC01 company). Anyone have any thoughts?

1. ALLOC1.JPG = The database had no transactional data at all so I had to add some to it. This screenshot shows ALL of the accounts with balances in this database.
   

   

2. ALLOC2.JPG = I created a balance-based allocation called TEST with an offset account of 6300-01. Note that this account does NOT appear in ALLOC1.JPG as it does not have a balance.
   

   

3. ALLOC3.JPG = The source information is any accounts in the 2000 series (2____-__). Therefore the allocation (based on ALLOC01.JPG) should allocate out 57,500.00 (the sums of 2702-02 and 2702-03).
   

   

4. ALLOC4.JPG = The target is set to 6260-01.
   

   

5. ALLOC5.JPG = The allocation batch is created “Test”.
   

   

6. ALLOC6.JPG = The allocation comes out perfect with the current offset account.
   

   

7. ALLOC7.JPG = With the offset account changed to an account with a balance (6273-01) the allocation is now incorrect as it shows 47,500.00 instead of 57,500.00.
   

   

8. ALLOC8.JPG = At this point I change the allocation type to Transactional. Note that the offset account is still 6273-01 which led to the incorrect balance based allocation amount.
   

   

9. ALLOC9.JPG = The transactional allocation comes out with the correct amount of 57,000.00.
