No silly questions here.

We're Epicor 9 Beta testers and this kind of functionality is coming. I
believe that you can reserve inventory using the Fulfillment Workbench
(which comes with Advanced Material Management (AMM).

As for OEM/Distributor price lists, see Price Lists under Order Management |
Setup. Once you create a Price List, you can assign it to a Customer or Ship
To.

Hi All,
Sorry if these are silly questions but I have to ask. We are going
live Jan. 1st 2009 and we have unresolved issues/questions.
We are on Vantage 8.03. We are moving from Unix/Distribution based
software.
1. Does Vantage allocate inventory? First in / First out?
I am seeing pick slips for inventory we don't have. (printing based
on date whether inventory is there or not?)
If customer "A" has an order for 10pcs due next week but order placed
a month ago and..
Customer "B" has an order for 50pcs, ordered today.
There is 50 pcs total factory stock. Will customer "B" take Customer
A's stock? Our lead times can sometimes be up to 12weeks.
Customer "A" will not be happy!

2. Is there a way for our Customer service people to look at one
screen and be able to see current inventory, whats on order (coming
in and when) demand against that part number, price breaks based on
the type of customer? Example: we have an OEM price list and a
Distributor price list.

Customer: OEM
PartnumberXYZ Available Stock 500 Lead time= 2 weeks
Qty Available Stock 10/31/08= 5,000
0-100 = 1.30
101-500= 1.25
501-1k= 1.00

Is what I'm asking for Custom or am I missing something?
Thank you for any help you can give.
Helen P.
Unless your inventory is lot controlled or serial number, there really is no systemic FIFO allocation.

Everything is soft allocated until you actually issue it to a job (or ship it via a customer order & pack out).

If by FIFO you simply mean a time phase net view of supply/demand: Yes. Time Phase does display this way.

Pick Lists, etc., aren't that smart.

You need to run your pick lists for short time range & have a planning process in place to only allow pickable requirements to fall within this short time range if you really have the material available.
