Allowing the Qty on a Job to be Zero a solution?

OR mark it as issued complete (even though zero qty issued). In 8.03.4xx you can customize job entry to allow you to manually mark mtl details as issued complete. MRP and netting screens (so far) respect that flag.

It'll cause a job cost variance (but apparently something was wrong to begin with - so it should).

You may be able to accomplish same with job completion/closing program or job cost adjustment but this works for us w/out opening up these programs to people that should really have access.

Subj:[Vantage] Allowing the Qty on a Job to be Zero a solution?

Good Day:

RE: Allowing the Qty on a Job to be Zero

Sun Is on M2K 7.0 SP 5 (Informix) but,
Going to: Epicor 9, 9.05.600B.2 SQL (go live date is 11/1/10)

In our testing we found that you cannot remove a Component from a
Job if there was any 'activity'.

One solution would be to change the qty to zero; but E9 does not
allow that. There is a request into Epicor to allow the zero qty. It
would be helpful if others would also ask for it. So, if you agree,
please advise your CAM or consultant and add your name to the list. The
more on the list, the faster it gets done.

Apparently the other solution is to CHANGE the Part# to a 'dummy'
part#. Does anyone have any experience with that?

We've setup a part "MISC" that is non qty-bearing, non-stock. We use it for the purpose you listed below, as well as any other time we don't want to actually do anything with a line item. By setting the flags qty-bearing to not checked and non-stock to checked, this basically makes it fall off the radar for Vantage. That is, it doesn't show up on stock status, purchase suggestions, stock-pull lists, etc....
