Thanks for the feedback.

That's how we also handle our coils of steel plate; via Lots.  In my world we "Heats" from our mills which is essentially a Lot#.  So we use that.

Just a guess:

Receive as feet instead of reels and track lots.

100 ft. lot 1, etc…

5 jobs use 80 each will show 20 in lot 1, 20 in lot 2, etc… left in stock.

Your lot numbers can be simple like the YYMMDD received.

I would like to know how you handle cable/wire that is cut short from a reel, but in Epicor it looks like there is a whole length reel.

Ex:  I have 5 – 100 ft reels.  I have 5 jobs that require 80 ft length.  So now I have 5 – 20ft pieces. But in Epicor it looks like we have 100 ft.  But I cant use this material for a 50 ft job because I have only 20 ft pieces.

How can we handle this.

We don't do cable but one of our companies does steel (same principle) we ended up creating UOMs for each 1/16th of an Inch and that way we have "bars" that are of UOM XXX (where XXX is the inches) kinda lame but it works. (Be warned that it slows down some screens due to the number of UOMs)

We lot track all our wire and cable spools. I just had a customization done to split a master lot into X sub lots so we could be more efficient at processing them.

This helps sales know quickly what they can promise for same day delivery.
