Any good examples for to show software installation in job as part or operation?

Does anyone have work orders set up in a way to support software installation tracking? In my low experience this could be done either through an operation (as a task for the operator) or a part number (can track revisions). Does anyone have good examples in real life which are working?

Not sure how good this is, or if you’d even consider it as software but…

here is a simple example of tracking the program INITIALLY loaded into a PLC.
Uses a partrev and an operation on the job.

Once the PLC is in the field then customer service is responsible for recording any program updates. (using a UDForm customization)
