Anybody use forecast to capture customer schedules?

Hi all, very much a newbie here.

Does anybody use the forecast function in Kinetic to capture customer schedules? We’re implementing at present, and I’m trying to find a way to make this work.

Anybody?

Thanks

Ever Hopeful!!

I get to start putting that together coming up soon. I’ve taken a look, and the entry / maintenance screen is terrible. You have to manually add a row per part/date/customer, but Part is the main filter, not customer, so you can’t paste multiple rows for different parts in.

I’m thinking I am going to need to basically build a new UI for users, because we get lists of ~80 parts from some customers for the next 6 months. They’d have to enter a PartNum, manually add/change 6 rows, then enter a new Part, etc. Based on the UI, that could take most of a day for the forecasts we get.

Also, welcome to the forum!

Hi Kevin,

Thanks for your response. I’ve spent a vast part of my day digging around in the forecast entry app. I have 30+ ‘schedule’ customers, each of them ordering varying numbers of different parts. Each of the parts has a number of ‘potential’ call offs which will be converted to a sales order when the demand is firmed up. I can copy and paste by part but that, too, has its problems. 2 out of about a dozen schedules, broken down into part, loaded without a problem. I’m hoping to get more of a handle on it tonight, then fingers crossed, I can get half an hour’s Teams call with our software partner tomorrow.

So, build a new UI for users. Is that something that can be done through Epicor tools? Would it enable the same data to be input but in a different order? Is it something I should be asking my consultant about?

Lots of questions, but as I say we’re just in implementation and want to spread good news, or at least have an idea what to ask, - the system we’re migrating from has an entire customer scheduling module so I want it to be as pain free for the user as possible.

Thanks again for responding.

Hi Mandy,

We use forecasts but not for customer schedules. I recommend looking at the import functionality. This allows you to bypass the horrific interface altogether. We use a BAQ to download the data and make some tweaks to the Excel for the system to allow the import.

Thanks Nancy,

Yes, I’ve requested excel versions of the incoming schedules (currently they’re supplied in pdf!) and have started working on some books the user can paste into which will reformat it for import.

Thanks for responding, much appreciated.
