Just had a question on using it be the help says this:
" Reference Category Maintenance
Once assigned to a part, a reference category cannot be deleted."
Just tested and I can delete so just wondering if there is a “hidden” process that may occur if we start to use in full.
From what I see though this field does not drive any additional functionality elsewhere in the system i.e. not like Type or Product Class.

You can’t delete a RefCategory if it is in use.
If I go to the part that category was used on, and select a different (or blank) ref category. I can then go back and delete the category.
