M1 was a product developed by a company called Bowen & Grove In Melbourne.
Bowen & Grove were the reseller in Australia.. (I know cause this is who we
bought Vantage from). I believe Epicor wanted to start selling Vantage
direct to customers from their Sydney office and gave Bowen & Groves the
flick. This were the businesses relationship got a little sour, from there I
believe Bowen & Groves decided to write there own product (they had very
good product knowledge). I also believe they were able to employee a
programmer from the Vista team and I believe the program is written in an
outlook format. Personally I never had a problem with Brown & Groves and
were very professional.
Hope this helps Todd

Todd.
I have made the switch from Vantage to M1, following a similar call
(I assume) from the people at M1, and never looked back.
Without knowing the size of your organisation, all I can say is that
M1 does not require an IT department to run and maintain it, and I
found it 'infinately' more flexible than Vantage will ever be.
I have since changed jobs, and am in the process of implementing M1
AGAIN, as I found it to be the best package (in its size/price- category);
having had the opportunity to review several other
packages prior to making this decision, over the last few months.
Please don't hesitate to contact me, should you wish to have any
specific questions (truthfully) answered!
Kind Regards,
