I’ve spent hours on this, and I can’t figure out what the magic sauce is. I have some grids I have made where it works, and some that don’t, but comparing them and what properties are different hasn’t lead to any breakthroughs. I’m inclined to give up, but this is an important issue to somebody above me soo..
In a customization or in a personalization?
I can’t get either to work reliably, personalization would be better, but if I could even force the widths I have set in application studio to stay that would be great. They change when you navigate to another page and back. I can get them to appear at the correct initial size but they just don’t stay.
Is it a custom dashboard or a custom layer on an app, or just a base app?
Custom layer on Time Entry
Is the grid you are trying to control custom or is it there in base time entry? If its there in base, which grid is it?
Custom, populated by a dataview filled from a BAQ
So if you set the width of each column in the grid and then run just the app with no personalizations they still don’t stick? Which version?
They stick in that when you first open it they are the size I set, but if you look at a labor detail and then come back, Epicor decides to make them whatever size it wants. So the user would have to resize after looking at each labor record, which would be a lot of times even for the automatic resize button.
And that happens when you run just the app by itself with no personalization?
That is my understanding. I delete the personalization through application studio, do a hard refresh, and then try it with the base customization column sizes and move through the application and they have changed. I’ve tried recreating the grids and the data views and clearing all browser data, no changes with those actions.
But like if you run it in preview mode yourself, you can reproduce the same issue?
I’m just testing this with provider model on a custom grid in sales order entry at 2025.2.16, and I can’t even get the widths to stick at all, not even the first time.
Hmm, I might have found something. Application showed “customizable” and “personalizable” as checked for my grid, but when I look in the exported json I don’t see them anywhere. I’m going to manually add them and see if that helps..
Ummm… slight improvement. Now it keeps if you only resize a few columns. If you do a bunch it gets rid of all of them. This is exhausting.
It happens to me randomly.
Now, important note, I never use “Provider Model” setup, always dedicated dataviews and events, with the grid model “Epibinding” property attached to the dataView. When I’ve got issues with columns width not saving with “Save Layout”, here’s what I do :
- Navigate to the grid - grid model - provider model - columns
- Click on the “delete” button, just as if I was trying to delete a column from the provider model. But, as I stated previously, I never use provider model, so there were never any column in there in the first place
- Come back on the canva, set the width and click “save layout”
Works everytime. Don’t ask me why and how, it just works
Do you use erpEditorModel on any of the columns for date formatting? Do the columns stay the correct sizes even after navigating and/or loading data?
Yes I do use erpEditorModel for dates and numbers, and no issue to report
Yes, I’m at the same point with that as I am with the personalization right now - it can set the initial width but if I load data, navigate to a page, and then come back it changes all my columns. Below is shows the issue, I start with the widths I want, but when I move from the daily to weekly and back, it screws up the column widths. I can get them back by shift + refresh. This is for both column widths set by customization or personalization
Sorry about the blurring, payroll stuff. Should be able to see the column sizes.
