AP check batch printing printer

Thanks Wayne. I think we tried that driver, but I will try again. I will
also look into adjusting the margins on the printer for our payroll
checks.

Many of the HP's have a setting accessible via the control panel or web
interface called "Set Registration" or something similar. It lets you
adjust the margins on the page to shift the whole image up or down.
Check your manual to see if the 4250 has it. Perhaps that would correct
the alignment?

You didn't mention which drivers you were using. The 4250 and every
other LaserJet I've seen has both PCL 5 and PCL 6 drivers available. Do
not assume PCL 6 is "better" because the number is higher ;) There's
good reason HP still offers both 5 and 6 many years after 6 was
introduced: PCL 6 is buggy garbage that all around *sucks* compared to
PCL 5. Try the 5!

We have an HP 1000 usb printer that is used to run the batch printing.
It sometimes works and sometimes not. I have changed the drivers but
nothing appears to work consistantly. I am guessing that Vantage wants
an LPT printer.

What type of printers are you all using out there? Or how are you
working thru this.

Thanks in advance

We are on Vantage 6.1. We recently purchased an HP LaserJet 4250 and our
payroll checks are out of alignment. I called support and they said it
was the print driver. We have tried numerous print drivers and still
haven't been able to resolve the problem with this printer. We send the
checks to an old printer in another office where they print correctly.
We tried the same print driver that is on the old printer, but it didn't
work on the new one.

More recently, we installed patch 536. Now our AP checks won't print
correctly. We have a heck of a time printing a batch, then getting the
check numbers assigned and posted. The process will freeze up when
trying to run the checks and sometimes will not assign the numbers.
Sometimes the checks will go ahead and print, but the batch shows that
the checks haven't been ran yet and will not allow posting. I called
support and they say again that it is a print driver. I told them that
isn't logical, since we didn't have a problem with AP checks on this
printer until we installed patch 536.

We use a custom Crystal check for AP that prints invoices numbers on
both check stubs. When I changed the default checks back to a Crystal
template check, I was able to print the checks to paper and it assigned
numbers and allowed me to post. Support then said that I should be able
to return to the custom check and should have no more problems and
closed the call, even though I emailed them back and told them that it
was still not working.

I have had no response from support. I do not know why we have to pay
them so much for doing nothing to help.
