I will change that value, which is located in App Server properties
under Broker -> Advanced Features -> "Auto trim timeout: "

Epicor said that the optimal value is 1800 because of the following:

I consulted with our progress Engineer regarding the Auto trim
settings in the system and he advised me that the default setting is
the optimal setting. The time is set to 1800 seconds which is 30
minutes, as seen on this page from the Progress Explorer Tool.

As progress explains it: "However, if the workload fluctuates a great
deal and the Agent/Server Auto-trim Interval is set too low, the
broker may trim agent/servers that it must then restart."

I'm still changing it to 600, 1800 (30-minutes) seems like way too
long to wait for our shop.

I continue to run out of App Servers. I'm using OpenEdge 10.1B FIX 9,
and I'm suspicious it's caused by users running large queries on the
DB. How can I find out which users are spawning these App Servers so
rapidly.

Just today, I had 25 App Servers that within 1 minutes.

Thanks,,

I have also had problems running out of appservers. I had actually
increased the maximum number of appservers to 40 and we still ran out. I
finally resolved the problem by changing the idle timeout from 1800 seconds
to 600 seconds. I have not run out of servers since.

Could you tell me where you changed the idle timeout?
