(Vantage 8.03.409C)

Our AR clerk today went through the normal routine of cutting invoices. She
retrieved the shipments from yesterday, printed the invoices and edit list
and then Posted the Group.

Usually posting takes about 2 seconds; almost instantaneous and we only had
about a dozen invoices today.

Around the same time someone was having printing issues so I cycled the
Process and Task servers.. But it appears that I cycled the Process and Task
server precisely the same time this 2-second posting process occurred (hard
for me to believe).

So, SysMon shows "Task canceled due to restart of AgentMgr appserver. Task
deleted due to restart of Task Agent". Maybe something caused the AR
Posting to hang, but the logs show no errors.

If I open Invoice Entry and search for any Groups, her AR Group is still
there with the dozen invoices. We did Group--Post, again, and subsequent
SysMon entries show "it completed successfully" but it doesn't look like it.

From the table side, there is a field in InvcGrp called PostInProcess which
flags that group to be locked due to posting being in process. That field
is set to TRUE. So the system believes posting is in process for that
group.

Any conversion programs out there to fix this?

Or should I just delete the group and re-do the process?

TIA.

Vic

Try GL\General Operations\Review Journal and see if anything comes up. Sometimes errors happen on the posting and the Review Journal will tell you why. From there you can typically cancel it which will clear the posting flag on the group. Not sure if this is available in 8.03, though.

Thought I posted this already - didn't see it show up though.

In 8.03 there is a post in process flag on the group that you can set to 0. We had to do that in the same situation, and that was based on a call with Epicor. Since we were SQL we just went at the raw data.

In E9.05 the conversion program will do the same thing as changing the raw data.

If you are seeing more problems with edit lists getting locked/hung it's because the edit lists, COS/WIP capture, and Inventory WIP Recon report read the posting rules first. There could be others than those I've mentioned. What we ended up doing was telling our groups not to run the post/edit list if someone else was doing the same -- and that's not just within the particular module. If someone was running an Inventory WIP Recon the AP person would hold off running her edit lists. It did seem to reduce the locks.

If your edit lists are getting slower and slower there could be some other problems. Our edit lists started going up to 1/2 hour and it turned out there were a couple transactions in our TranGLC with no company (how could not be determined). Once we got a one-off fix from Epicor they went back to running much quicker.

Jenn! Thanks a bunch. I copied the db to our test environment to play with
it. I ended up deleting the invoices from the Group in AR Invoice Entry
one-by-one and then deleted the original AR Group. Created a new AR Group,
Got shipments and it finally posted normally. Finance seems to be happy, AR
Aging matches up... weird.

I saw that field, InvcGroup.PostInProcess like you described below, It was
set to 1, or TRUE, and I thought about being a maverick and just updating
that field and re-trying the posting process; so I'm glad that would have
worked!

Thanks again.

this happens quite often to my company. Where it wont post ( we have 8.03.409C). The only work around this we found is to transfer the invoices to a new group and then it will post. Hopes this helps

Vic,

There is an error in Vantage where it won't let you re-use the same Group
ID on multiple "POST" you'll actually see the error in the error logs if
you look. The solution is to re-name all the invoices to a new group.
Because some of the invoices already posted under that batch (if you search
the InvcHead table you'll see more invoices with that Group ID and some
with the "POSTED" flag on.
If you are SQL the fix is easy, if you are progress the Fix is easy (do a
bpm on ABC Coda Maintenance Update) LoL

FOR EACH InvcHead WHERE InvcGrp='YOURGROUP' AND Posted=False
Assign InvcHead.InvcGrp='YOUR NEWGROUP'
END.

If you are on 8x you'll have to use BufferedTableUpdate buyt its the same
concept. Make sure you create the new group first.

Jose,
With this BPM, the group name would have to be predefined, is there a way where it could be any group name as different people use different group names?

thanks

Just Create The Group First, then Adjust the BPM. Or if you are feeeling
fancy and you are on 9x you can use a BPM DataForm to run this.
