That makes sense on one hand, but I wouldn't have access to anything through Gmail for anything prior to my joining the group.
I also delete the digests rather than keep them in my email. I'm weirdly particular about my email, so if it doesn't need to be there, I delete it.
Plus, there's this ability (whether good or bad) to go completely off topic in a thread (like this one) and it would be nice to be able to move it to a new thread administratively. Or have a moderator do it. :)
