Assembly Inventory

We issue the job to assembly. The first op is "pull material", it is linked
to the material which is backflushed.

Small items like o-rings, clip rings, some bolts are stored in assembly.
Larger qtys are on the shelf. The bin is the shelf location. We don't use
a separate bin for assembly in most cases. These items are all low dollar,
small items.

Subject: [Vantage] Assembly Inventory

I am wondering how other companies handle an assembly inventory. We
would like to maintain common used helicoils in an assembly
location. Do you treat it as a bin (maintain seperate inventory
locations)? Do you use backflushing? Do you pre-issue the jobs?
