Assembly Time too long

We are having issues where MRP backs up start dates further that we like. We are using infinite scheduling. It seems to back it up correctly based on standard hours in the routing, For example, if we have 20 pc. job at 10 hours each, it is backing it up 200 working hours (plus set up and receive time etc.).

The problem is that 200 working hours means we get start dates about 3 weeks earlier than the due dates. We will have 5 people working on them so we only need to back it up 200/5 = 40 hours (about 3 days for us).

I have tried changing Scheduling Blocks, Crew Sizes, Split Operations, Concurrent Capacity. Nothing seems to help. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Joe

@Kohlhaas Welcome. Scheduling block is what you want and then you need to reschedule the job. It should assign the 5 resources and you can see those in job tracker under the operation as scheduled resources. You can also use the job scheduling board to get an idea of how the jobs operations are getting scheduled.

@gpayne Thanks for the reply. This does seem to fix the problem. Unfortunately, it appears that if I want MRP to plan this way I need to change the scheduling blocks on the MOM of each item. We have thousands.

I flex them in a bpm on job update since we do not know if the job is going to be for 10 or a 1000 and the amount of resources will vary.

If your job sizes are consistent DMT for thousands of MOMs is not bad.

Otherwise you will need to trace out the MRP job or use an updatable dashboard for job changes which is what I do. We can fixup hundreds of jobs in minutes.
