Assistance pertaining to APM/APM+ installation

No ideas, I have not seen this error...I would log a case with Epicor (which then gets transferred to doc link). They are really good at getting back to me for any APM issues.

Thanks Karen. As I suspected, I was performing the data validation correctly. While my Property Values {stuff} is different from yours, I can confirm that I am following your example similarly.

My problem would appear that when enabling the Cover Sheet with any property, I get the following message: "This key is already associated with an element of this collection." If I place no text, then it will process and email the information, albeit unformatted.

Any ideas?

I am attempting to install APM/APM+ 2.6 for Vantage 8.03.409C. The
company purchased this in 2008 but no one has ever installed it. And,
since my background is not Epicor, I feel a little out of water (I am
more comfortable with other, much larger ERP systems).
As some others have noted, the installation docs are somewhat aloof in
their process.
A few questions:1) Should I install 2.6 and then upgrade or go straight
to 2.7? I know that 2.7 doesn't have some specific items, so some would
recommend doing the upgrade.2) SQL Server Express 2005 or 2008?3) Is
there a quick-n-dirty installation that works?4) I am installing on a
Win2008 Std VM. Should be any issues, as long as I am in via VNC and not
RDP, correct?5) Is this an exercise in patience? Some folks discuss a 5
day install?
I am pretty sure that when I get it installed, it should be fine after
that (wink, wink, nod, nod).

Chris,

You could install 2.6 and upgrade to 2.7. A big benefit of doing it this way is that you will get the entire cache of pre-built Epicor document types and properties. A disadvantage is that you get the entire cache of pre-built Epicor document types and properties. ;)

I find it cleaner to start fresh with 2.7 and make my own doc types and properties, but then I have been doing this for a while. I agree that the documentation can be a bit brief on some topics.

Use SQL 2008; the freebie version will be adequate to start with for most mom and pop stores. If you happen to have full blown SQL Server laying around; why not use that. If you set up APM to not use the DB for image storage the APM DB has a very small footprint.

The initial setup can be done within a 5 day period. Think a single doc type workflow to keep it simple in the beginning. Then expand the system to the rest of your organization. APM will take some patience to master. It is quirky and there are a lot of variables to keep in mind when installing. It is not a case of pop in the DVD and click on install. As the matter of fact, keep that DVD far away from your environment until you have read the install manual thoroughly and complied with all the recommendations.

HTH,

Paul Siebers

Be sure to take a look at the APM documentation in the Yahoo group folder on setting up APM form recognition and distribution - it will save you a lot of time and frustration.

You will want to install 2.6 than upgrade to 2.7. Changes were made to 2.7 and if you do not install 2.6 the pre-installed templates will not show.

Thanks to all for your comments. I have successfully installed 2.7 with 2.6 integration. I have dynamic routing working and I am able to scrub Quotes for information.

However, I am running into an issue with Cover Sheets. I am not sure if the problem is documentation, 2.6 or 2.7, but if I attempt to enable a coversheet and imbed Property information, routing fails. If I enable the coversheet with no text (blank), routing works. If I enable the coversheet with no text and enable the Document Properties, routing works and sends the information.

I would like to customize the coversheet, but {%Property Name%} is not functional?

Here is an example of what we have for the subject and then body of the emails for Sales Order Acknowledgements (check Send as HTML box ):

Subject: Fisher Barton Blades, Inc. - Sales Order Acknowledgement for PO Number {Customer PO Number}

Body: <html> <p><b>{Customer},</b></p><p>Please find Sales Order <b>{Order Number} </b> attached. Reference PO Number <b>{Customer PO Number}</b>.</p><p>Thank you, Fisher Barton Blades, Inc.</p></html>

Of course, do not include the words subject or body...

We often test by setting an internal email address on the customer account temporarily...Then change it back once the form is functioning fully.

Further on this, I guess (?) that its no longer possible to have multiple routings under recipients? I had fax/email configurations set. When I removed the Fax setting, it processed successfully with a cover sheet.

Can anyone confirm this as an issue in 2.7?
