How can I get the the G/L Account to auto fill, in Purchase Order Entry.
I am told that when Entering a New Line for Inventory, the two Fields, Account and Description, don’t auto fill and the “Get Default” button has to pressed everytime and checked for the correct information. However, when entering an MRO, that would go under the Other Category instead of Inventory that these fields automatcially fill in.
Ours auto-populates based on the part class used at the line level of the pO.
Previously in Vantage 8, this is how people operated. They entered the G/L Account in the PO directly. During a PO receipt, this account was debited. If one made a mistake, the receipt had to be backed out, the PO changed, then received again. Woe to the receiving dock who tries to receive an item with an inactivate an account number!
This method also only works for companies with simple accounting requirements. But for other companies, they needed separate books for local GAAP and for HQ’s financial rules. So, Epicor created the Posting Engine. Instead of putting the account number everywhere (where historically users didn’t properly choose), we now use GL Control Codes as place holders. THEY determine the actual account number AND associated accounts for ALL books. This is very powerful as it handles both simple and complex accounting practices. It also gives finance the chance to review every posting before it happens and lets them correct it if need be.
Instead of checking each PO line, it’s better to run the Inventory/WIP Reconciation report before posting and fixing errors while you still can.
Thank you,
Do you know if you had to do anything to make it auto-fill with the part class? From what I can tell it should be auto filling, but I also might just not know enough about epicor yet.
Thank you.
