I can't remember what v3 does but v4 and v5 don't do anything
with last/avg cost when auto-receiving.

We have been experimenting with the Auto Receipt from Manufacturing
feature. It seems that the cost of the part received is always the
Last Cost and not the Average Cost that the part is set to.
We can fix the cost by unreceiving and re-receiving the part manually.
Are we missing something, or is this how it is suppose to work?
