Automated COS/WIP Period Starting problem

Hi Jose,

Hey, thanks for your input! Yeh, I'd probably go along with you about letting it go on its merry way until a new month and then re-do the schedule, but I'm not the user that requested it.

So the different dynamic settings were useless? I just tried one ("Today") and you're right...didn't work. I seldom give up and I've gotten some strange things to work in the past...usually through 'non normal' Vantage ways. I have been playing changing dates around and at times I got it to move to the next fiscal period, but it's hit and miss and I'm not sure what I did. I'm not sure if I can stick some custom stuff in the form and have it change it or not. When the process ran, it did pick up custom code I put in (not related to the fiscal dates), so I'm going to try to look in that direction. If I do stumble on something I'll definitely let you know!

Thanks again!

Kurt

I needed the COS/WIP to run daily so i just set myself a reminder that on the last day of each month to delete the process and on the first day of the new month i set the schedule again. It only captures items from the month. Thats my best workaround solution which i currently do.

Hi all,

I have the COS/WIP that runs every morning by a process set with the Post to General Ledger, Post Cost of Sales checked and the Dynamic checkbox checked and set to 'Today'. It has been working ok for a couple weeks. BUT, now our Fiscal Year/Period has changed on 7/28/2013. The program runs and the textboxes and settings on the LEFT side of the form look to be fine. The information on the RIGHT side textbox, LastRunInfo still has the Period Starting, Fiscal Year/Period and Ending Date unchanged from the last period and from what I am getting from the user is it is posting transactions to the last month.

The dates in the Fiscal table are set up ok. I have looked in the systaskparam table and I'm not sure what, if any, this table has to do with the COS/WIP program, but some of the info is incorrect there too. On the form I have last run and ending dates both as 7/29/2013, which is ok, but the table shows 7/17 as last run and in the LastRunInfo (the big, long string)field shows the ending as 7/16/2013. Strange.

I'm not sure if there is something I should have set somewhere or one of the tables are messed up. Has anyone run into this or have any suggestions? We're on 8.03.405. I appreciate any help!! This COS/WIP is really turning out to not be fun anymore!!

I am sure this is a bug. Came across it a couple of years ago. You should stop the schedule immediately as I am sure it continues to post later transactions into the original period. It's been a while but I have not scheduled a COS WIP on recurring since.

Hi Gary,

Thanks for your response. Yeh, I pulled the plug on it already, so it shouldn't hose anything. It is going to drive me nuts.

Strange how it advances the days, but doesn't hit the new periods. Do you think there is a table that has any info relating to the form that should be updating, but isn't? Or, maybe even a customization way to force it to check this? It just seems like it should be easy, but the way Vantage sometimes does things, I can figure out what is going on.

Thanks again for your help!

I must admit, we never retested it on any later release to prove whether Epicor ever fixed it as it needs to be completed over multiple periods.

I am sure this is a short coming in code development at epicor

Hi Gary,

Yeh, somehow I always manage to find those short comings! This isn't the first time. Sometimes I do manage to find a workaround....kind of hoping so this time!

Thanks again Gary!

HI Kurt,

i am on Vantage 8.03.409C. I also have the COS/WIP on a schedule to run on a daily basis. Its runs at 6 AM. the same problem you have i ran into. I tried different Dynamic settings to no success. I needed the COS/WIP to run daily so i just set myself a reminder that on the last day of each month to delete the process and on the first day of the new month i set the schedule again. It only captures items from the month. Thats my best workaround solution which i currently do.

It sucks but its better than pressing it at 5 AM on a daily basis (in my case)

Hopes this help and if you find a better solution pass it along. thanks

Jose
