Automating Material Moves

I’ve read a few topics regarding material moves and the material queue, but none that directly relate to what we’re trying to accomplish. Bear with me, as we just installed AMM and are trying to learn how to use it.

We’re looking at implementing a new process that allows material handlers to pull material from Bin A to a staging bin for a job or multiple jobs. The staging bin is located next to a machine and contains material to be used that day in the manufacturing process.

If the operation is the first op for a job, is it possible to automate move requests from Bin A to staging for materials that need to be used that day? What kind of setup could we use to achieve this? Is it even possible with material move requests?

Also, if there is anyone using AMM, any pointers are greatly appreciated for best practices regarding requesting material moves, using the material queue manager, and automation.

Thanks in advance,

I’ve not looked into the mechanics of it too much, but I think this would fall under the topic of “Automated Fulfilment”.

As I understand it:

  1. Enable automated fulfilment
  2. Create master rules (essentially rule templates)
  3. Create rulesets from the master rules
  4. Run the automated fulfillment process.

I think the question is can there be rules for identifying “material to be used that day in the manufacturing process” that fit with your need. I would think that based on the operation start date, this would cause a certain due date to be associated with issuing the material so that operation can occur.

I think we are on an older version of Kinetic that does not support automated fulfillment unfortunately.
