Automation of Project ID

#ygrps-yiv-1550015026 {font-family:'Times New Roman';font-size:13px;}
In E10, we accomplished it this way:
1. Create a UserCodeType titled "NEXT".
2. Add a UserCode of PROJECT and put a number value in it to start the sequence.
3. Create a Post Process BPM on GetNewProject and screen customization of DuplicateProject to default the projectID field to keyword "AUTO".
4. Create a Pre Process BPM on Update of Project to fire off  custom C# code.  The code considers added records with ProjectID == "AUTO", grabs the value in the UDCode record, and increments it for the next user.

The only flaw we have seen with this does not guarantee the IDs are all being used.

Hi Mandy,

We created a Post Processing BPM on the GetNewProject method that assigned a Project number using a user defined table to hold the next available number.  It works well, but there may be an easier way.

That’s a good suggestion, though I would recommend just using a UD field in the company table rather than use an entire UD table for the task.

Hi Rob,

Yes, actually I have one UD table devoted to this sort of thing – some lists we use etc.  Using 2 keys for the table I can make use of it in a good number of ways.
